This will be a weird request but I'm looking for books about being normal and why it's a good thing. Something like having some superpower, but realising it's nothing but a curse or a burden and eventually leaving it behind to live a normal life. Ofc it doesn't have to be fiction. Any medium is welcome. Essentially the main idea isn't "be yourself" but "be like everyone else and fit in"

I would like the work to dive deep into why and how this "power" is a burden, if possible

    1. This is a pretty common trope that gets explored through multiple angles. Most often someone with “God like powers” wants to be a normal kid. Or not alienate their peers.

    2. The Rest of Us Just Live Here (Patrick Ness) is basically about wanting to be the normal person while “chosen one” stuff happens around you.

Also maybe Flowers for Algernon if you’re open to “gift becomes a curse” in a more grounded way.
