I really love this kind of dynamic. Some examples that I have loved are Martha Wells’ Murderbot/ART, Lois McMaster Bujold’s Penric/Desdemona and Garth Nix’s Mogget in Old Kingdom.
Please suggest other series or books that have this dynamic. I would prefer fantasy or sci-fi but ok with other genres too.

You might like the Zoey Ashe series by David Wong aka Jason Pargin. The first of the series is called Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits.
I guess I’ll be the one to recommend it on this thread , but Dungeon Crawler Carl is a sci-fi series who’s protagonist has a pet cat named Princess Donut that gets a special ability allowing her to talk and… she sure lives up to the “princess” name with her diva attitude, snarky comments and hilarious quips.
It’s an amazing series, possibly one of my all time favorites.
