Hello, I’m currently really into historical fiction, but have worked through most of the big names (Cornwell, Iggulden, Follet etc).
I’m looking for similar tales, but maybe set in the ancient world (IE, a few thousand BC)
Anyone got any recommendations?

Have you read Follett’s most recent, *Circle of Days*? Stonehenge around 2500 BCE
Try The King Must Die by Mary Renault. It’s a two book series, she also has a trilogy on Alexander the Great
Michener’s books like Alaska and Hawaii will take you from magma to modern day
Have a look at Valerio Massimo Manfredi’s work. I enjoyed his Alexander trilogy.
Masters of Rome series by Colleen McCullough. It’s not a very popular series with lesser number of ratings but whichever reader I have come across has loved those books and the ratings are really high as well. Very well researched and intensely gripping writing style.
Seconding Mary Renault. Her Alexander trilogy and Theseus duology are great starting points.
Does Gates of Fire count?
I, Claudius by Robert Graves
“River God” set amongst the Pyramids.
The Song of Achilles and Circe, by Madeline Miller.
Matrix, by Lauren Groff. Medieval nun eventually becomes Abbess.
The Secret Chord by Geraldine Brooks is about King David.
