I am looking for books that capture the change in how we think about someone after they die, or get sick or something drastic happens. So, for instance, the way one might have had ambivalent feelings towards a friend or a loved one when they were alive, but when they die you seem to remember them with more and more fondness and rose-tinted glasses. I am mainly interested in the personal scope, but also open for suggestions about stories of collective memory.
In terms of genre, I prefer fiction, but non-fiction is fine. I don't really like romance, fantasy or Y/A.
Thank you!
