I *just* finished the Cradle series which begins with the main character going through a magical test on his seventh birthday and ends with him giving his seven year old son that same test.
More broadly, I really love fantasy that encompasses all of life. Stories where the main character grow into adults, fall in love, and grow into their potential. I particularly love when slice of life content is used to interrupt and slow down the plot, I feel like sort of thing really grounds the reader and characters in the world of the story.
I want a fantasy series where the characters start young and grow into adulthood, develop relationships, figure out who they are, and save the world. I'm sure there are more series than just Cradle that fit this description.
