So, I'll start off by saying I'm a writer, which sounds expectionally close minded and juvenile that I've had such a hard time finding books to read, when I am supposed to be able to craft and write myself. What got me into writing was this reason: I want to write the stories that I would want to read, but have never found. So first off, I've read books of course, but not often has it been on my own account (I.e. school made me).
I need someone, or many people, to help recommend a book based on my preferences and experiences. I've dabbled in reading Stephen King's "Dark Tower." It was interesting; his writing style was a bit oddly paced, and his action scenes were somewhat confusing. I ended up dropping it. 6/10.
I tried reading "The Book of The New Sun," by Gene Wolfe. Which was actually super interesting at first. Then I once again kinda got confused on what was even happening, and found the main character's personality to just shift out of nowhere, which confused me further. I also wanted a bit more of the action to have gotten going after reading so much, but outside of that, I'd say 7/10, still didn't finish it. (I might try and give it another go, though.)
One of the only books I've finished, read of my own accord, and really liked was "The Long Way Home to a Small Angry Planet," by Becky Chambers. It reminded me of my favorite game, Mass Effect, and I found a lot of the characters loveable, and it was a cozy slice of life space story. Which isn't usually my vibe, but so far it's the only thing I've truly really liked.
I've also read a good bunch of HP Lovecraft as well as some Vampire: The Masquerade books, which I did like, but didn't find amazing.
So if anyone could help me out. As you can see, I love Sci-fi, Dark Vibes, Romance, and Action. If anyone can recommend a book, say why you think I might like it, I'll see if I can give it a try! I'll even rate it in the comments if I end up trying it or reading it.
