suggest me a YA book series

Im currently reading the Percy Jackson series with the young adult i take care of (disabled, physical and intellectual). She enjoys them it seems (non verbal), but now that we are on the last book Im at my wits end. The villains are so cartoonish and the characters are not believable. I think I just dont like Rick Riordan’s writing style. I know it’s for kids, but it’s just over the top corny. The plot is really cool and i really do enjoy the overarching story, but the narration pisses me off the more i read it lol.
