This 'subgenre' or style of writing/character is my favorite thing to read. It doesn't necessarily need to be scifi, as I've found T. Kingfisher's books also hit the brief for me. I've already read the ones below (and everything Kingfisher has written, Discworld, and John Scalzi books since I suspect those to be a recc).
- Project Hail Mary / Andy Weir books
- We Are Legion (We Are Bob) / Bobiverse
- Dungeon Crawler Carl series
- The Murderbot Diaries series
- The Five Hundred Kingdoms series
I like the humor, but I also like there being stakes. And particularly, since I am a very deeply anxious person, like that they all have some version of a happy ending, or a happy for now that works with the tone and the stakes. I think the narrator character's 'personality' is a huge draw for me with these! Also fast to medium pace is preferred!

It’s kinda different but Piranesi by Susanna Clarke is a fun one of a kind story like Project Hail Mary. I’ve got my Mom to read both and we love them.
