I was terrible at maths as a child and I want to fix it, especially as I want to care more about my finances. I've tried a few non-school "math" books but most of the time they focus on mathematical curiosities like interesting problems nobody can solve, or trivia about the life of famous mathematicians, or subjects that are only adjacent to learning math. For example I've read "A mind for numbers" by Barbara Oakley and it was basically about memorization (for whatever, not only maths). I want a book that is just like: maths work like this, you need to know this to start. But for adults, and not super advanced. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!
