Looking for novels similar to Haruki Murakami's novels but set in Indonesia, hopefully by an Indonesian author.
I like Murakami's vignettes of life in Japan, especially how he lays out getting around Tokyo feels and the food the characters eat.
There is also great perspective of the country's attitude post WWII.
Additionally he plays with Japan's Shinto tradition and encapsulates the culture's nihilism.
Are there novels that encapsulate the same cultural landmarks but for Indonesia?
