Hi there,
I’m traveling to China and Japan soon and I’d like to get there knowing the basics of China’s and Japan’s history, culture, traditions, internal and foreign relations… Ideally, I’d like to find a book that talks about both countries and also compares them (but it’s fine if they are separate books after all) and have it be historically accurate without being too dense or hard to read.
In case it helps, in China I’ll visit Shanghai, Zhangjiajie, Chongquing, Xi’an, Beijing; in Japan, I’ll visit Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Fuji, Suzuka and probably some other rural village in the middle of the country.
Please let me know if there are any books like this that you can think of. Thank you!
