Has anyone felt that this podcast has become unlistenable lately? The host is boring and unenthusiastic; episodes are so tightly cut that it doesn’t sound like a real conversation; and it doesn’t feel like they cover substantial literature anymore — the latest episode is about…the Bridgerton books. Come on. (No shade if you’re into them, but they don’t need the publicity. There are plenty of books that do.)
I know Pamela Paul has (understandably) fallen out of favor but the podcast was a thousand times better when she was hosting. It was just better organized with longer, unedited discussions. And her guests were far more interesting and well-read than the ones Cruz invites now. Such a shame. Used to be one of my favorite book shows. Now I skip it.
