I hadn’t read much sci fi before but absolutely gobbled these both up this month.
Things I loved about both books: scientific accuracy, extreme competency, space travel, high pace, loveable characters
Please help me continue my sci fi journey!

If you’re open to taking your scifi journey back to earth, The Centre by Ayesha Manazir Siddiqi is great.
Children of Time (and sequels) did scratch the same itch for me!
It’s a darker novel in terms of themes but I highly recommend Dawn by Octavia Butler. It centers around the idea of can you save a species that doesn’t want to be “saved”
The generally accepted next best read, imo, is the Bobbiverse. The first book is *’We Are Legion (We Are Bob)’.*
It takes a few more liberties with the fiction side of science, but it *does* have tons of interesting technological progression, space travel, competent problem solving, and fast-paced space battles. And plenty of characterization. It’s fantastic, you’ll love it.
Artemis. Sure, it’s Andy Weir’s worst book. But not being as good as The Marian and PHM still leaves a lot of room to be a decent read.
Children of Time
The Murderbot Diaries
The Moon is a Harsh Mistress
Rendezvous with Rama
Old Mans War by John Scalzi isn’t my favorite series but it’s definitely a lot of fun. I recommend it
For scientific accuracy, the Mars Trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson: Red Mars, Green Mars, and Blue Mars
The Expanse
I also recently finished Starship Repo. It was a fun read and pretty short.
A long way to a small angry planet by Becky Chambers. More in that series as well.
