Like a Jim Halpart level of pining, Just for the Summer type of vibes of falling in love and then possibly not being together but having a happy ending. I need the call your name in the pouring rain type of love pleaaaaase. Setting and subgenres not important tho I do love Victorian era, high fantasy, roaring 20s I guess the less modern the setting the better lol. Thanks in advance!!!

Oh you NEED to read Jane Eyre if you haven’t already – Rochester is literally the definition of brooding sad man energy and the pining goes both ways 😭 Also North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell hits different, Mr Thornton will have you screaming at your book because the man is so stubborn but so in love
For something more recent but still historical try The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo – not exactly what you described but trust me on this one the yearning will destroy you 💀
