how in the world can I justify an Audible subscription when I still have to pay for each audiobook I find?
mostly I use the Libby app, or if a book is unavailable, I try to find it in Spotify, but then I run out of listening hours so quickly. I read a LOT of books. I have access to a couple libraries via the Libby app but I find a lot of niche book recommendations that aren't available at the library.
should I just get the version of Spotify that allows for more audiobook listening hours? what are we doing?

I use libro.fm. it let’s you pick a local bookstore and they give a portion of money to that store.
Does your library also have Hoopla? I’ve found they have a lot of books that I can’t get from Libby, and the checkout period is a week longer (this could be library-dependent, however).
Some libraries offer cards for a fee to nonresidents. I think you can find a list on the libby sub and poke around to see which libraries have selections that suit your interests. I’m paying $12 a month for library access and listen to about 10 books a month (my local library has 73 audiobooks total so I had to look elsewhere), so it’s very cost effective for me. In the infrequent event I want a really niche book and don’t want to request then wait until a library adds it, I’ll pick it up on libro.fm.
