I have an itch for a good short story right now, whether it be anthologies of them or just a single story. I've spent most of my adult life reading novels; I think the last time I read a short story was in high school? Like the ones that fundamentally changed you as a person, ex. The Scarlet Ibis or The Yellow Wallpaper.

I kind of want something similar to those: something that's a bit fucked up but still has something important to say.

I'm fine with a story about pretty much anything, but I do enjoy "female rage" narratives, romance, and horror.

I'm specifically looking for short stories that were written recently, maybe in the last 20 years or so? Bonus points if it's written by a woman/queer person/person of color!

    TIA!

Stone Mattress by Margaret Atwood. If I could just choose one story from it: “Torching the Dusties”
