Can anyone recommend books that are comforting and lovely to read? Preferably non fiction, Ive been reading Elizabeth Zimmermann's knitting books which have some diary entries etc in (an extract from the book below as an example) and would love to read more like this- not necessarily about knitting, just anything; life, anecdotes, interesting people and beautiful points of view, thank you!

“There was an Easter book at each plate so we spent a happy idle morning reading outside in the sun, had some more breakfast for lunch and raked the grass in the afternoon. For supper, pheasant from the freezer, some of the hoarded wild rice and a bottle of hock; my word, who lives better than we do?

Through the day, the birds had given it all they had, the sun had shone, the clouds gathered, the evening drew in early, rumblings approached and SPLAT SPLAT, huge drops of rain fell. Rain? We haven't seen rain since last November: Truly the winter has had it.

And if you think we are old fools for playing Easter Egg in the snow like little kids, try it yourselves when you get to be sixty.”
