As stated in the title, looking for something to read on a winter weekend getaway. I have been trying to read one fictional book a month this year so fiction is appreciated. I like suspense, not really a romance gal, willing to try sci fi. BUT it absolutely MUST be something that grips my attention. Bonus points for actually being able to finish it within three days. TIA!

honestly for a cabin weekend you cant go wrong with something like The Silent Companion by Laura Purcell – its got that creepy Victorian vibe thats perfect when your surrounded by trees and silence. Super atmospheric and definitely keeps you turning pages, plus its totally doable in a weekend
if you want something a bit more sci fi but still gripping try Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. Mind bending stuff but not overly complicated and the pacing is insane. both of these had me staying up way too late because i just couldnt put them down
If you like horror I think “Stolen Tongues” by Felix Maxwell could work as a weekend read.”The return” by Rachel Harrison has 0 romance and focuses on female friendship (it is again a horror book). If you like cozy murder mysteries then the “Thursday Murder Club” series of books by Richard Osman: witty, entertaining and you will not able to put them down.
In the Lake of the Woods by Tim O’Brien
