“I like fantasy again?!” – non-spicy books with good female characters

Hi everyone,

For the past couple of years I’ve been reading mostly classics, non-fiction and experimental prose. I thought the days of reading fantasy were behind me.

Then, just by a stroke of luck and boredom, I picked up “Nettle and Bone” from the bookshelf (I won a pack of T. Kingfisher’s books a while ago). And oh my!!! I couldn’t put it down and sadly had to leave the last 100 pages because I needed to go to sleep.

But I am so enchanted my it. What I love the most are:

– The sort of normal, not extraordinary heroine who tries to stay strong, has morals, wants to help her sister,

– Adult heroine!! The 31-year-old woman is so refreshing,

– Low focus on romance, no spicy scenes,

– Fantasy elements,

– The ✨vibes✨.

So now I come here to ask you for the most difficult task of suggesting me more. I really want adult (25+) characters and no spicy scene. I am starting to accept some romance background, but I can only stand it if it’s clean and not a main plot point.

It can be a series, it can be even darker than this. It could be horror or scifi, although fantasy is preferred.

I tried googling it but then a friend verified with me that Jade City is, in fact, full of spicy scenes 😬
