My dad died this weekend. My husband is terminally ill. I have always been an avid reader (usually a book a week) but I’ve stalled for the past few months. I find myself scrolling social media or watching true crime.
I’d love recommendations of a book that would allow me some escapism and grip me at the same time. I’m not a particularly sophisticated reader, I tend to go for true crime and also enjoy the authors Frederick Backman, Adele Parks, Alice Feeney, Freida McFadden, Lisa Jewell, Shalini Bowland, Liz Nugent, Taylor Jenkins Reid, John Boyne.
I’d be grateful for any recommendations. I don’t need to avoid death or illness, particularly if the message is uplifting.
