Hi! I've just finished reading "The Hunger Games" books for the first time, and I had no idea I would love them so much. Now I just want to continue reading, but I don't know what to read, here's some info that might help
Likes
- dystopia/utopia – these are my favorite by far, some of the books I loved were "Hunger Games", "The Memory Police", "1984", "We" (by Zamyatin), "Fahrenheit 451"
- circus/carnival/travellers – not sure how better to describe this one, some examples "Company of Liars", "Morality Play", "The Plague Tales"
- plot twists & good foreshadowing – I love when plot twists are unexpected and shocking, but when you re-read the book, you feel like it was obvious, ex. "Company of Liars", "The Thirteenth Tale", "The Silent Patient" or like in "The Prestige" (the movie)
- romance with a very decent and kind person – Katniss & Peeta as a couple are amazing, and I would love to read books with the same dynamic, where one person is very good, kind, understanding (Peeta) and another one who might be morally grey or just confused about their feelings + bonus points for any pan/bisexual characters
Dislikes
- space adventures – I don't mind sci-fi, but those that don't have a lot of descriptions of space travel, spaceships, planets, etc.
- heavy focus on combat – I love when battles are more psychological than physical, I don't mind some combat, but when it's not one of the main themes
- romance with a horrible person – enemies to lovers is fine, but if one of the people is just horrible, evil, murderous, toxic or cheating – I don't care for it
- zombies (or similar survival tropes) – I don't like post-apocalyptic books where the main focus is just basically surviving in ruins against zombies/virus, etc.
