Hope everyone’s doing well,
What are some good fiction suggestions you’d recommend for a young guy in his early twenties ? I want to start reading fiction because I want to expand my imagination and creativity.
I’m heavy on non fiction at the moment particularly around niches like psychology , entrepreneurship , self development etc but figured why not give fiction a try?
It would be nice to get fiction recommendations that would A) boost creativity & imagination + B) probably benefit me in some way in real life aswell because why not
Thank you

Everyone else in this sub is gonna recommend it but I wanna be the first this time: Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
Dude, you’re gonna love making that switch to fiction – it’s like unlocking a whole different part of your brain. Since you’re into psychology and self-development, I’d definitely check out “The Name of the Wind” by Patrick Rothfuss – the way he constructs narrative and character development is insane, plus the main character is basically learning how to master different skills which has some real parallels to personal growth stuff.
Also throw “Klara and the Sun” by Kazuo Ishiguro on your list – it’s this beautiful story told from an AI’s perspective that’ll mess with how you think about consciousness and empathy. The writing style alone will boost your creativity because ishiguro has this way of showing instead of telling that’s pure magic.
For something that hits both creativity AND practical benefits, “The Power of One” by Bryce Courtenay changed how I approach challenges in real life – it’s about this kid who learns boxing and develops this whole philosophy around small victories building into bigger ones. Trust me, these will scratch that self-improvement itch while expanding your imagination in ways non-fiction just can’t touch.
