Hi everyone,
For the past couple of years I’ve been reading mostly classics, non-fiction and experimental prose. I thought the days of reading fantasy were behind me.
Then, just by a stroke of luck and boredom, I picked up “Nettle and Bone” from the bookshelf (I won a pack of T. Kingfisher’s books a while ago). And oh my!!! I couldn’t put it down and sadly had to leave the last 100 pages because I needed to go to sleep.
But I am so enchanted my it. What I love the most are:
– The sort of normal, not extraordinary heroine who tries to stay strong, has morals, wants to help her sister,
– Adult heroine!! The 31-year-old woman is so refreshing,
– Low focus on romance, no spicy scenes,
– Fantasy elements,
– The ✨vibes✨.
So now I come here to ask you for the most difficult task of suggesting me more. I really want adult (25+) characters and no spicy scene. I am starting to accept some romance background, but I can only stand it if it’s clean and not a main plot point.
It can be a series, it can be even darker than this. It could be horror or scifi, although fantasy is preferred.
I tried googling it but then a friend verified with me that Jade City is, in fact, full of spicy scenes 😬

Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree
I’ve recently been enjoying The Hexologists by Josiah Bancroft. It follows a married couple of magic detectives. The couple are adults, and while the couple has an established strong relationship, any dirtier scenes are either alluded to or skipped over tastefully without spice. The books follow both perspectives though the woman is more often the primary point of view.
