I'm looking for a book that gives an explanation to why the German people would give up on democracy for fascism.

From what I was taught Germany had to pay back reparations to all the nations German fought and that caused major inflation. But how did they decide to print all that money when they knew it would cause that? How did Adolf convince people that the Jews caused them to lose WWI; and how did they fascism as a better option than democracy?

They Thought They Were Free: The Germans 1933-1945 by Milton Mayer.

Mayer was an American Jewish man who went to Germany about 10 years after WW2 ended and interviewed 10 former Nazis over the course of a year or two, asking about why they supported the Nazi party, what life was like, etc

It’s written in 3 parts, the first part is interviewing the former Nazis, the other two are about geopolitics and history so they are much less interesting
