I have recently gotten into sci-fi but also into getting away from a US-American-centric media consumption. I have really enjoyed reading Ursula K. Le Guin, Ann Leckie and am currently reading Project Hail Mary, which I’m also enjoying. But now I’d like to read similar types of books from non-US-American authors. If there is no English translation, I can also read German (native language), Dutch (good enough to read novels) or French (not good enough for novels but graphic novels would work). Also, I’m not a fan of series. I’d prefer standalone books (or books that are in the same universe but have different stories, like Le Guin‘s Hainish cycle). I have tried The Invincible by Lem but it didn’t really catch me, unfortunately. Any ideas?
Edit: Also, I really dislike parallel universe and time travel as tropes.
