This is a little embarrassing to ask but I’ve been in Sex Therapy due to new-found asexuality, it’s been a few months and my therapist suggested that I read “erotica” and to journal my reactions/feelings towards it.
I just don’t really know what he means? He says something sensual or whatever I feel engaged in but offered no suggestions. He told me to hunt around until something sparks my interest and to also see WHY it’s interesting to me. I have read smut and stuff in the past but I don’t want anything extreme incase it’s trigger or sends me backwards.. I am VERY emotional when it comes to sex or anything related to it so I think I need something similar to my usual reads but with some light erotica added in?
I’m an avid reader and mostly stick to dystopian, sci-fi, fantasy… I’d like to find something “erotic” that also fits those genres. The last few books I’ve read so far this year are:
Service Model – Adrian Tchaikovsky
Mickey7 – Edward Ashton
All Systems Red – Martha Wel
The Memory Police – Yoko Ogawa
So, as you can see I really enjoy books that make me think about humanity, human connection, consciousness, survival, sentience…. So, if I could find something that still has those themes, I think I can push myself through it.
Thanks and I’m sorry if this is confusing.. I’ve tried googling myself but everything I find seems to be waaaay to smut/sex focused (very 50s Shades of Gray vibes) and that isn’t at all what I think I need.
