I’m looking for book recommendations for my 6th grade student.
She is obsessed with the Zoe Washington series and generally gravitates toward fiction and mystery. She doesn’t like horror or anything too scary/dark, but I think she could totally handle something a bit more challenging than what she’s been reading.
Her dad also wants her to start reading more “real” books (lol), so I’m trying to find things that still feel engaging and fun but are a step up in complexity. I was also thinking maybe light dystopian could be a good direction for her?
Looking for:
• Middle grade fiction
• Mystery / investigative vibes
• Possibly dystopian (but not super bleak)
• Strong main character
• Not horror
Would love any recs that feel like a natural progression from Zoe Washington into more complex books. Series or standalones both welcome. Thank you!
