I want to get into reading, to use my free time better which mostly goes into doom scrolling lol. So I wanna replace some of that with something better. I'm not a regular reader, or a reader in general, so I'm looking for starter books for different genres to explore and find out what suits me.
Basically, if someone says "I'm wanna try this genre" what's the one book you'd hand them?

I got you!
Sci-fi: Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
Fantasy: Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson
Mystery: A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson
Classic: The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde (the GOAT)
Romance: anything by Emily Henry (eg Book Lovers)
Thriller: Misery by Stephen King
Horror: A Song for the Void by Andrew Piazza
Non-fiction: Anything by Mary Roach (eg Stiff)
Memoir: A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah
Children’s Fiction (don’t scoff a lot of it slaps): When you Trap a Tiger by Tae Keller
Manga: One-Punch Man
I could go on or go deeper into any one of these genres. There are so many great books in every genre! I tried to pick a few that I really enjoyed that might be good entry points. Feel free to DM me, I’ve got plenty more I could suggest but don’t want to overwhelm you 🙂
