I know there are posts about Lonesome Dove and suggestions for a next read, but I was hoping I could get some recommendations that aren’t westerns.

What I like about LD is the masculine characters, the brutality of the harsh conditions, and their flaws. I enjoy how deeply you get to know them and how you warm to characters you didn’t like at first

LD was the first fiction book I thoroughly enjoyed, so I’m brand new to epic novels. And I’ve finally found fiction I love.

I‘m considering Project Hail Mary, but are there any books that I should have a look at too?

James A. Michener is great, his books Alaska and Texas are very very good. I would pick Alaska and if you like it, he has more to dive in to.

Reading LD now and loving it!

I highly recommend The Journeyer by Gary Jennings. If you can, trust me on this one.
