My husband and I were recently discussing sad movies, and I remembered watching The Road years ago, though I didn't know it was adapted from a book.
My husband hadn't seen it, so I looked it up. He saw that it was based on McCarthy's novel and said, "oh no wonder it was so bleak."
He told me he'd read some of McCarthy's other work and thought that it was very well written.
He said he'd read blood Meridian once, and explained a bit of the plot. He said it was the most difficult book he's ever read (emotionally) and he regularly had to take mental health breaks while reading it.
My interest has been peaked. I said as much to my husband, and he recommended I start with something other than Blood Meridian, but wasn't sure what to recommend.
So here I am to ask the internet.
