All my life, I’ve had trouble being able to convey emotions. Including excitement, anger, irritation, love, happiness. And I plan on starting therapy for understanding why I am I like that. But I would like to find a book to read to maybe help teach me how to best understand and voice the emotions that I am feeling. Any suggestions?

I’d definitely recommend “Emotional Intelligence” by Daniel Goleman, it’s like the classic starter for understanding how emotions actually work and how to express them better. Also check out “Permission to Feel” by Marc Brackett – dude breaks down this whole framework for identifying and communicating feelings that’s super practical
