I work in Human Resources and honestly, I’m sometimes freaked out by fellow HR people. I’ve been on both ends, the one trying to protect people and the one being watched, judged, or manipulated. Honestly, the fucking worst. Lol. And it’s not just at work, it’s in life too. People’s behavior, politics, betrayals, it gets messy. I’ve learned to protect myself quietly. I still get anxious, but I’m learning to move through it.
I can’t believe I get to say this, but I really like learning about People and Culture. Right now I’m reading Psychotherapy of Everyday Life (Peseschkian), Understanding the Psychic Powers of Man (Jaime Licauco), and Creativity and Intuition in Management (Eduardo Morato). I’m especially interested in books about creativity and intuition in life or work, anything that sparks new ways of thinking or helps notice patterns, except The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. I can’t bring myself to read this book right now.
I’m also looking for books, audiobooks, or podcasts that help understand people, workplace dynamics, culture, or psychology in practical, human ways. Weird, unusual, or off-the-beaten-path stuff is especially welcome. Anything that has helped you see people, workplaces, or yourself differently.
Basically, I want to understand how humans tick, how we survive messy situations, and how we grow quietly.
