I’m in a probationary period at work. To my own surprise, my work has been good. However, I have been told that I will not be taken on unless I improve my confidence/the way I present my work out loud, that being key part of the role. Whilst I might understand the thing I am talking about, I lose that clarity when I talk and it often comes out as though I am afraid and questioning myself (even when I am sure that I know as much as the person I am explaining it to).  I don’t think I can do much for the anxiety – that is a long-term issue. However I want to improve the way I talk. I am time poor and so whatever I do, it must be something I can do alone, in my room. As such I was hoping that there might be a book that someone here could recommend for reading out loud – either just a story/poetry book or an actual book of simple exercises. I previously recorded myself reading some children’s stories but I’m not actually sure that helped much…

Separately, any thoughts on affirmations/affirmation books? I’ve seen some weird people advocating it so I’m hesitant but given that my career is now staked on my confidence I’m considering everything that I can
