This is for my 61 year old MIL. Some of her recent favorites:
- The Passage Trilogy by Justin Cronin
- The America Falls series by Scott Medbury
- Silo/Wool Trilogy by Hugh Howey
- Bird Box by Josh Malerman
She doesn't really like fantasy (although she did like Fairytale by Stephen King). She prefers dystopian/disaster stuff that's at least SOMEWHAT plausible. She definitely likes action. And I don't think she'd like anything too weird. For example, I just started Oryx and Crake and worry it'd be a little too weird for her.
Thank you in advance 🙂

Three dystopian classics written by women:
The Wall by Marlen Haushofer
Kallocain by Karin Boye, originally published in 1940, well before “1984”
The Children of Men by P.D. James
