Apologies if this sounds snobbish and judgemental but after years of struggling getting back into reading, I stumbled upon Freida McFadden's books. They are very quick reads, engaging, but I'm also very aware that they are crap. Nonsensical plots, characters with fewer brain cells. Yet I'm grateful for their existence as they got new reading.
I've decided to break up with them and move on to something more sustancial whilst mindful that I might still need a good page turner.
Harlan Coben did not work. Emily Henry has more nuanced characters but not as quick to read.
Any advice?
Should I go non contact with Freida or interdisperse them?
Thank you!
