I don't really enjoy your typical self aggrandising showbiz biography or autobiography about how people 'made it big', or books about the 'great' people of history and how they became so successful. But I really enjoy stories about unusual people who live(d) interesting lives. So I'm looking for recommendations of interesting biographies of oddballs. Bonus points if they are written in an interesting way as opposed to a typical chronological life story.
Three examples I have enjoyed:
Sing Backwards and Weep – Mark Lanegan
Street Level Superstar – Will Hodgkinson (about British indie misfit Lawrence)
Every Man for Himself and God Against All – Werner Herzog
