Hey so I've been looking for some fantasy books recently that are just a wild ride reading them.

    1. The Name of the Wind, by Patrick Rothfuss. A bard turned innkeeper telling his story with hints of a dark past. Unfortunately, it’s an incomplete trilogy, but still worth reading!

The Temeraire series bridges fantasy and history. Basically, Napoleonic Wars with dragons. Massive, intelligent dragons with guns and 100+ person crews. Great worldbuilding. Actually, everything by Naomi Novak is wonderful. I’m currently reading Spinning Silver, a twist on Rumplestiltskin and Russian fairy tales.

The Farseer trilogy by Robin Hobb. The most complete characters ive ever read that drive you crazy when they make completely rational decisions for their character because you know they are wrong

    3. The Daevabad Trilogy by S. A. Chakraborty – A beautifully crafted if dark fantasy political drama series that is frank about the horrifying effects of cycles of revenge and the corrupting nature of power.

The Golem and the Jinni and The Hidden Palace by Helene Wecker – Old World magic finds a place in the New World when a newly awakened golem and a bound jinni are brought to New York City in the early 1900s and end up drifting into each other’s paths.

A Master of Jinn and The Haunting of Tram Car 015 by P. Djeli Clark – An alternative fantasy history spinning off when an Egyptian mystic tore a hole between realities, bringing magic to Earth in the 1800s. By 1912, Cairo is an astounding magiteck metropolis. Trouble is never far away but on the heels of such are clever, committed public servants.

The Devil’s by Joe Abercrombie. It’s the best audiobook I’ve listened to in the previous 5 years.
