I’m imagining this might be a bit rhetorical since I would think that people on this sub are going to encourage me to read it anyway, but I just want to make sure. A book this long is a real commitment, and I’ve had it on my list for years, but I’m aware of the ending of the book. This has acted as a deterrent to me committing to it. For clarity, I’ll tell you what I’m referring to.

    **SPOILERS**

Protagonist forgives person who falsely accused him/put him in prison/ruined his life.

Also just generally aware of the plot: young promising man gets falsely accused and has his life ruined, spends years in prison (much of it in solitary confinement), escapes prison, tracks down man who did this for revenge, but ultimately forgives him in what I would assume is a reflection of his upstanding character/an unexpected ending and a great life lesson.

    **END OF SPOILERS**

So, yeah. I’m of course aware that there is of course an absurd amount of detail/characters/plots I don’t know anything about, but it feels like such a bummer to know about it. Is it really that good of a novel that I should read it anyway?
