Great version of The Odyssey to read/watch before Christopher Nolan’s film this year.

With Christopher Nolan’s upcoming adaptation of The Odyssey coming out this year, I’d love to read (or even watch) a version of the story beforehand.

Can anyone recommend a translation, retelling, documentary or series that’s well put together and engaging but not overly dense or academic?

I’m looking for something good that still captures the essence of the original.
