I'm looking for some multi-generational family dramas to sink my teeth into. I just love good dialogue and memorable characters that these types of books tend to have. I read Blackwater last year and East of Eden is one of my favorite books of all-time. What other good multi-generational family dramas are out there?

    1. Pachinko, it’s one of my favorites. The language is so beautiful, the characters really feel fleshed out, and I really didn’t know anything about Korea and Japan in those times. Beautiful engrossing book.

100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is one of the most beautifully-written books ever.

House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende

Homeseeking (Karissa Chen), Banyan Moon (Thao Thai), The Most Fun We Ever Had (Claire Lombardo), The Sleepwalker’s Guide to Dancing (Mira Jacob), The Arsonists’ City (Hala Alyan)

    4. You it may enjoy Ivan Doig’s Montana series.
      English Creek
      Dancing at the Rascal Fair
      Ride with me Mariah Montana

Follows Scottish immigrants homesteading in Montana in the 1800’s into the 20 th century.

Even if you just read Dancing at the Rascal Fair (best in in my opinion) I think it spans a couple of generations.
