I recently read Daughters of Shandong and loved it. It’s historical fiction about her own grandmother, living in China following WWII. The author has a new book coming out soon, which I believe is set in China in the 1970s.
Memoirs of a Geisha is set in the 1920s, one of my favourite books of all time.
Peach Blossom Spring is set in 1938 to present-day. Haven’t read it yet but have a copy I’ll be reading soon.
Look into books by Lisa See, she’s a Chinese American author who has written historical fiction about many different centuries, mostly set in China.
