Is there a PKD or Kurt Vonnegut of our political/social era?

I love the popular fiction of mid-20th century politics — wry, insightful, provoking, and delightful, all at once. I tend to read more old books than new, but I’m desperate for a modern mind to burrow into. Someone who is thinking two steps ahead, who sees into and through the psychology of our era, and has the words and the humor to express it.

Any suggestions?
