Hello! I read out loud to my son who is 12. Right now we are reading “The Things They Carried” and it’s been a great read. Somethings he likes:
It seems like a true story (moves fast as compared to total non fiction) & intricacies of battles and military details. I like the length of it a lot- we’ve been able to make good progress. I do like the fact that the book is so introspective and generally anti-war.
In the past, he’s only been interested in World War II, this was the first other war I’ve read with him. It’s not a children’s book as you know so I’m wondering if there’s other books like this or in the genre of this type of book. Thanks for your help!
