Hi there! I (22F) am currently trying to find a book to read that I can share with my friends. With college keeping me busy, I haven’t had a ton of time to read. However, my friends and I want to start a rotating book club before we graduate! Basically, each of us will pick a book and read/annotate it. Once we’re done, we’ll pass it on the next person, eventually leading to you getting your book back with everyone’s annotations in it! Pretty cute right?!
Anyways, since I haven’t read in a while, I’m looking for advice for a book to choose for this. I love fiction/fantasy, with the “Hunger Games” series, mythology, and fairytale inspired books being some of my favorites as a kid, and “The Invisible Life of Addie Larue” being the last book I finished that I loved. I’m really looking for something meaningful in plot, perhaps something that’ll tug at my heartstrings or make me think afterwards. This book should be somewhat universal since I’ll have several other friends reading it.
I am trying to look for something that resembles me as a person (which may be hard since you don’t know me), but I love good world building and would prefer a something with an ending I can’t predict. Some of my hobbies include video games, swimming, crocheting, and traveling. I tend to like books that are fictional, with some magical or different world element. For example, I love “Ready Player One” because of the video game element. Ideally I’m looking for something for readers in their 20s, with no heavy romance (side plot romance is okay). I think it could be cute to have a book with a group of friends in it (since I love my friends hehe), but that’s not a requirement. I’m just hoping to find a book that’s not too easy (so no easy YA type novels) and keeps me engaged (so nothing that I have to force myself to stick through until the end for).
We haven’t picked a page count yet, but please try to recommend books under 500pgs (unless you think it’s really really good). Thanks in advance!
