I'm a big sci-fi/fantasy fan but really want a book about deception and intel-gathering.
I also love the idea of spying on scientific/engineering projects. The Manhattan Project book Bomb! had sections on the soviet spies in the project and I devoured that as a kid, would love the chance to relive it.
I prefer 3rd person narration so please let me know which style your suggestions are in.

If you liked The Americans tv show then you’ve got to check out *The Charm School* by Nelson DeMille. Older book, Cold War espionage thriller that absolutely inspired the tv series
The Company of Strangers by Robert Wilson
Enigma and/or V2 by Robert Harris
The spy who came in from the cold
