Hey everyone, I'm looking for a book that's much like the title suggests.
I'm looking for a novel where the narrator's love for their passion/medium/activity bleeds through each sentence, each word. Something where the narrator perceives their world through this medium.
More specifically, I'm looking for passions in coding and art. Better yet would be a mixture of the two.
The only example of something similar to this that I could find was from a college personal statement an influencer shared and posted online. I know a personal statement and a novel are two very different things, as such the writing styles, diction, eloquence, and pacing will likely be different in any recommendations. Mostly, I just want to read a narrator perceiving the world through code and/or art.
Here is some of the writing for reference.
"My hands entrapped my ideas within my head, and the only solution was to set them free. The plan: Whenever I wanted to bite my nails, I'd draw instead, shifting the habit from my mouth to my pen. The more I sketched, the clearer my purpose became. My artwork graduated from doodles to designs… Like an architect sketching their building, I crafted my own blueprints. My art became a layout of where buttons and text would appear on the website. My creativity burst once I freed my hands from the confinement of my mouth. As I finished my sketch, I transferred it from pen to keyboard, completing my mural onto the canvas of a blank webpage. While bringing my illustrations to life, typing in the language of JavaScript, I felt reminiscent of the conversations I had at my kitchen table, where math transformed into its own language… Likewise, I applied my coding language to communicate with my computer and translate my ideas. Every line of code written and bug fixed became a brushstroke in my digital masterpiece, a labor of love I called [REDACTED]… My art began to sketch a crucial stroke of my character… My canvas and ink have inspired me to begin a new creative process: you may hear a thump-my hand hitting my notebook as my ideas take shape on the page. My fingers, which once symbolized shame, are now set with long nails that grip my pen confidently-a reflection of my growth. The product of my process will most likely be one of the two results: a unique doodle or a new idea blossoming and what I would consider my latest masterpiece. Each grain on the paper is embellished by my curiosity, conceived with the hopes of fixing the next issue."
