I watched Gone Girl a while ago and really liked the movie. Last year I tried reading the book but ended up putting it down because the first part felt slow to me.
Just to clarify, this isn’t my first time reading a book after watching the adaptation. For example, I read American Psycho after seeing the movie and had no issue finishing it. So I don’t think it’s just a “I already know the twist” problem.
For those who’ve read it, does the pacing pick up in a way that makes it worth pushing through the early chapters? Or if I didn’t enjoy the first stretch, is it likely just not for me?
