Oh man you just described some of my favorite reading vibes. I’d definitely check out The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters – it has that gothic mansion atmosphere with family secrets and this creeping sense of unease that builds throughout. Also maybe try The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo tho its more old Hollywood than gothic but the family drama and secrets are top tier. For something really atmospheric I loved Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia – it has teh creepy mansion vibes plus some seriously disturbing elements that stick with you. The writing style captures that lush descriptive quality you’re looking for where you can almost smell the decay and feel the humidity in the air
