The Last by Hanna Jameson. Described as On the Beach meets Agatha Christie.
I just read Lonesome Dove and once it got going I couldn’t put it down.
Surely this sub is tired of its praise, but man it’s good
A whole bunch. It’s been a good start to the year.
The Experience Machine, This is Your Brain on Music, How Emotions are Made, and Why Buddhism is True all made it pretty high up my list of nonfiction books on intelligence though.
Tell the Wolves I’m Home. It’s sad but a little hopeful in some ways, follows a girl reconciling with her uncle’s dead from AIDS alongside the uncle’s boyfriend + the girl’s own family dysfunction. Lots of grief and minute details that I thought really characterized everything well.
