Not sure how to describe what I am after.
Two that I enjoyed that are a bit different:
Mystic River, Dennis Lehane (No not interested in his others)
The Rules Of Backyard Cricket, Jack Serong
And probably more so the second. The common bits – neither realised WHO was responsible till near the end. The second book more so as (as far as protagonist is concerned) nothing terrible is happening, just good son/bad son and cricket playing.
